Charged with history

Since it was built in 1652 by the mayor of Orléans, the château has undergone a number of owners and projects that have shaped its appearance and history. The château is renowned for its architecture, its gardens originally laid out by Le Nôtre but since redesigned, its two beautiful 17th-century wrought-iron gates from the Château de Richelieu in Touraine, its antique bust figures on the façade, also from the Château de Richelieu and transposed to the Château de Chamerolles in the north of the Loiret département, and its carved wooden main staircase built in the late 19th century. From 1930 until the end of the 1980s, Château du Rondon welcomed many famous and lesser-known writers and artists, offering them a unique and privileged environment.
